There are often some very interesting images tucked away in sketchbooks...

Sketchbooks are fascinating aren’t they? I have come a long way from admiring the developing work of a friend at art college back in the 80s. I now have a large pile of the things, which need to find homes. Large A3 spiral-bound life drawing collections have been split up, with some pages being repurposed for gelli printing. Some have revealed long forgotten treasures. Of course, in a real sketchbook there will be half-finished daubs and just plain bad stuff. That is what they are for. But I won’t inflict these on you.

Here is  a collection of sketches I did of Essaouira in Morocco, sitting snugly in my studio, wearing out the Pandemic. So very much luckier than many people, I know.

Just for once, I have allowed a lightbox feature on this page, so you can open up the images and look closer.

I think it might be nice to offer prints of these. No originals, as I am not monster enough to rip good pages out of a bound sketchbook.

Some Moroccan scenes I drew early in the Pandemic

This market scene deserves a full width spread.
