Place Life Colour

art by Amanda Earlam

About me

Place: I get fascinated by the specific atmosphere of a place. For example the bustling and very uncorporate feel of Essaouira.

Life: This could be vegetation bursting through a wall or a road, or people chatting and arguing at a market.

Colour: I am rarely monochrome, I love bright  and rich colours. But less is often more. The beauty of colours is often best seen in a restricted palette of three hues, choosing different ones each time.

Media

I am most at home with acrylic, as so many textures and colours are available.

Prints

Some of my paintings paintings are available as high-quality prints on good watercolour paper.

Testimonials

"Describing herself as ‘a colour addicted artist’ Amanda paints in acrylic, mixed media and watercolour, using a vibrant palette. Asked what inspires her eye-catching paintings, she says: “The atmosphere of a place, a plant bursting through a wall, people chatting at the market. I love bright colours and playing them against each other! “My current interests are street scenes in Morocco on the one hand, and pure abstract on the other."
