Paintings of the Essaouira area
I fell in love with this town in early 2018 when looking after a friend’s apartment. Since then, I return when I can. Covid-19 sent me back from Morocco in a rush. Now all I can do is remember this magic and possibly piratical place in paintings and drawings.
I started off using my own reference images. Of course, once I realised I was more interested in street life than in architecture, I asked my very good, local friend Regragui Aitbella to continue taking photographs for me to use. I am so grateful for his generous spirit.
These paintings are all in acrylic on watercolour paper. They vary in size between roughly A4 and not quite A2
